Sea Day (Day 73)

March 4th, 2024

We had a nice calm sea day after leaving Bali heading to Java. We did the usual stuff and I spent time going over my dive photos and picking out some to put on the blog to share with everyone.

When we got back on board Sunday night they put the list of excursions in our room for the ports after India which includes Mauritius, Richards Bay – South Africa, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town. Since we are in a higher category cabin we got a little bit of a head start over those in the lower cabins. They did not get the order forms until Monday morning but they did get the descriptions. We got both the descriptions and the order form that night and had to quickly review and turned it in that night.

True to their word Viking is offering several safaris with private game parks out of both Richards Bay and Port Elizabeth. They are included meaning no cost to us and most of them are 8 hour tours. They are also offering 2 multiple night safaris. One is a 2 nighter and includes 3 safaris and then a flight to catch up with the boat. The other one is called Botswana & Victoria Falls overland and is a 5 day 4 night trip with a few flights to get to where you need to go. We debated for a bit and then thought we have no idea when/if we will be this way again so we went ahead and put our name in and we will see if we get it. We also still have our name on the waiting list for the 5 night Taj Mahal overland trip and waiting to hear.

A lot of people were not at Mah Jongg on Monday morning and we figure it was because they were busy looking at tours and getting their booking forms in.

They did a big poolside dinner on Monday night that was Indonesian cuisine. The whole pool deck was decorated with lots of floral displays and tons of food. They also had the roof open and the breeze was actually quite pleasant. It was packed but we went down early and got some pictures.

Both of these displays were made out of sugar and food coloring

They had brought on a bunch of Bintang beer Fancy carvings by the pool

This was made entirely out of chocolate.

We thought about doing laundry but we had to be up early for an all day tour in Semarang so we opted out.

Next stop Semarang, Java.
