When we were in Auckland last year we never imagined we would be back so soon but here we are. This trip is a little later in the year than when we were here last. New Zealand is heading into fall and so the nights are a little cooler. We spent the night in Auckland because about 450 passengers are getting off in this port and we are also losing and getting a lot of crew here.

We had no plans for our 2 days in Auckland so we took our time getting off the ship. Since we were lucky enough to spend 3 days here on our last Viking cruise we had done most of the highlights. I probably should have planned better but we were just happy to be in a familiar port after all the new ports that I didn’t plan ahead. We walked around quite a bit browsing the stores and walking along the waterfront.

We had lunch in a cafe and after walking 7 miles we headed back to the ship for a little bit of rest prior to heading back out again for dinner.

We had a nice dinner on the waterfront.

After dinner we walked around some more just enjoying the city.

We made it back to the ship after 9pm and all the suitcases were lined up in the hall for all the people getting off in the morning. We knew we would not be able to sleep in due to all the announcements that would be made getting everyone off.
