We had no plans today since we have done most of the popular things to do both inside and outside the city. Our plan was just to get off and wander around on our own with no particular destination in mind.
First time we have seen the mounted police in Lisbon
There was a guy doing bubbles in the middle of the square which made for a nice effect on the pictures.
Not sure what this guy was doing in his Spiderman costume but he was having a good time.
The elevator you can take that gets you to the top of the hill so you don’t have to walk it. Great views from the top and usually long lines to ride it up.
Lisbon is known for it’s cable cars
We walked around for a bit then got some lunch and walked around some more. It was a beautiful day with clear blue skies and if you were down by the water there were nice breezes but not so much when walking in the city.
More cable cars.
We stopped and had some Portuguese snacks. The dark chocolate cups on the left are filled with their cherry liquor called Ghinga and you put the whole thing in your mouth to get the favor of the dark chocolate and the cherry. The tarts on the right are the Pastel De Nadas which are the best custard tarts and you sprinkle powdered sugar and cinnamon on. We always bring a few back to the ship for snacks but with no preservatives they don’t last long.
We made it back to the ship around 3pm and all on board was 4:30.
All of the cities, including Lisbon, have started with the tuk-tuk tours and the vintage car tours but the mini car tour was new to us.
We were the middle of 3 ships and we had a P&O in front of us and the Ritz Carlton ship behind us.
The Ritz Carlton “yacht”.
Pulling away from the port with the P&O ship.
The giant square from the water.
It was great watching the Olympics on the big screen on the boat with the sun setting.
Next stop is Tangier, Morocco and we don’t dock until 12pm.
