Cadiz, Spain (Day 129)

April 29th, 2024

Another perfect weather day. Blue skies and nice and cool. We figure shorts and t-shirts are done for this trip but who knows.

Our view this am from the balcony.

A panoramic of the city

We were in this port on the 21/22 world cruise and we chose to do what we thought was the same excursion since we enjoyed it so much. Last time we drove out in the country and went to a village up on the hill that has all white washed buildings and great views and was called Frontera something. So when we signed up for the excursion and it said it was taking us to Frontera something we thought it would be the same place. What we learned on the bus ride this am was that most of the villages outside of town start with “Frontera”. So this time we went to a Vejer de la Frontera which is right on the water.

It is another all white village that has great views from the top and lots of winding narrow streets with cafes and shops.

We had an hour and 45 minute free time to eat in a cafe or shop or visit the beach or all 3. We walked around a bit and then went down to the beach which had a few sunbathers even though it was cool.

It was a very wide beach

Looking back at the town from the beach

We took the 45 minute ride back into Cadiz and were back at port by 12:30. Today’s all on board is 3pm and we had several buses going into Seville.

The boat had a great dock just like we did last time we were here. You walk off the boat and you re in the center of town.

You can see our boat from the center of town.

Town is quite nice and clean.

I love the rainbow buildings

Down on the beach section of town.

We found a little cafe and I had a grilled ham & cheese sandwich and Kathy had a grilled cheese sandwich and a beer.

Our afternoon lunch snack.

They had vendors in the main square and I had seen something that I liked but by the time we went back they had packed up and were gone. We then starting noticing some of the shop signs which said 10a to 1:30 and then they opened back up at 5pm. Oh well.

We made it back on board right before 3pm and then watched all the Seville buses come in around 4pm. We sailed shortly after that.

We are now headed to Lisbon and will dock at 1pm tomorrow. The weather says rain is expected and the high will be 65. We will do an overnight in Lisbon and we have no plans so we will wander around town as we ahve in the past.
