We were docked by the time we woke up and we had an excursion planned for 9:15. To get to the terminal it is a long walk and it is outside so by the time you get to the terminal you are already a sweaty mess.
The cruise ship docked next to us this am
Where the boat docks is an hour and a half away from Kuala Lumpur and since we have been here before and seen Petronas towers, which at one point was the tallest building in the world, we opted for a botanical garden and a boat ride.
Malaysia has spent a lot of money building a new city called Putrajaya. It has lots of office buildings and a hug man made lake and really nice housing. Like Singapore the government builds most of the houses here and then you buy them with the governments help. It was very clean and everything was well maintained where we went. It sort of looked like something out of a sci-fi movie because we saw very few people even with all these high rise office buildings.
As you can see very few cars on the streets.
We got on a boat to ride around the manmade lake and there were lots of cool bridges
The rocket looking building to the left is a view point that you can take an elevator spa dn look out.
Some more of the cool buildings.
Our guide told us what all these building were but I am not 100% sure. All are government buildings though.
The landscape is very green and behind these trees is a huge house that the Malaysian government gave to one of their officials as a thank you.
The other thing that is here is a famous mosque that is made of rose colored granite.
It really is beautiful and pink.
Boats and the mosque
Kathy with the Putrajaya sign with the Prime Ministers office in the back ground.
After the boat ride we went to the botanical gardens. Interesting thing about the botanical gardens. We never saw anyone else there including workers and Kathy read on the internet that it was closed on Mondays. So it looks like Viking got some special favors.
Got a picture of this black and white bird.
The gardens were quite extensive and had 18 sections and we only had an hour so we separated from the group and walked around on our own. Lots of trees and some pretty flowers.
Singapore is known for their orchids.
After the botanical garden they took us to a view point above the city which is a giant convention center. Again we saw very few people.
After that it was back to the bus and back to port. They did have a shuttle taking you to a mall in Port Klang and we have no idea if anything worth going to. By the time we got back it was 3:15 and last shuttle from the mall back to port was 4:15 So we had a quick lunch by the pool grill and then did some busy work in the room.
Tomorrow is another Malaysian port called Langkawi.
