Sea Day (Day 83)

March 14th, 2024

Today was a sea day and everyone is gearing up for 7 port days in a row. It is not just the 7 port days that is hard it is the heat which drains you. We have 3 days in Singapore and we are very much looking forward to a nice clean country.

The sea day was uneventful and we did our usual activities. Of our 12 Mah Jongg players that we have in the morning 4 of them are going home so that will change the dynamics some but the ones I usually play with are staying. A lot of people are leaving in Singapore over the 3 days we are here. Not just passengers but crew. We have been told several numbers for those leaving but we saw a lot of luggage tags being delivered tonight to staterooms. We have heard about 170 are leaving but we think it is more.

Kathy did get to go to felting today. Remember she made the gnome earlier in the cruise and today was a koala. It needs a little more work before she will let me take a picture of it and show you.

There was 1 couple that we had dinner with our first night in Vietnam from Massachusetts who actually flew home day 2 of Vietnam. They were telling us that the husband drinks Mountain Dew and has to have it so they brought on 120 cans of it. They took a suitcase in Los Angeles after they landed and boarded the ship to the grocery store and bought several cases of Mountain Dew and just rolled it on the ship. The wife likes Diet Pepsi so they did the same with that. We have a bigger cabin so I can’t imagine where, in a regular cabin, they put it all. Since they were leaving early they have given it all away. That has been the most interesting part is the people leaving and posting on Facebook what they have that they don’t want to take home. One of the Maj Jongg people came in this am with hangers, toothpaste, bottles of Aleve and Motrin, artificial sweetener, eye glass cleaner and cold medicine and was giving it all away so she does not have to pack it.

We do not dock in Singapore until 12 noon and the Captain warned us that the boat traffic would be extensive leading up to the docking. We have a tour tomorrow night to see Singapore by night and have a Singapore Sling in the famous Raffles hotel.

I did spend time today looking at the videos of snorkeling I took with the go pro and have some pictures to share. Most are of the pink skunk clownfish. The 3 guys I went dicing with in Bali have set up a dive in Phuket, Thailand so hoping for some more chances at photographing the clown fish.

Most of these were within 6 feet of the surface.
