Sea Day (Day 58)

February 19, 2024

We gained another hour last night and according to the shore excursion manager the reason is because Brisbane does not do day light savings time. Apparently the change of when the sun rises would disrupt the routine of the cows so they do not acknowledge day light savings.

Another thing we found really cool was the constellations. When we were out at the penguin parade the guides also showed us some of the constellations and named them. Of course they have the southern cross which is simple but can only be seen in this hemisphere. The also have Orion except the sword is pointing up and not down. For that reason they call Orion the Swordsman.

This is not a great picture because it was taken with the cell phone but you can see that the sword is up and not down.

Also I know I have mentioned the food and how they combine weird things together. Here is an example.

I confess that NONE of us tried this.

It is nice to play Mah Jongg on these sea days in-between ports because you get to catch up with everyone and see what they did in port. So I played Mah Jongg this am. During lunch several people saw dolphins but we did not. Apparently they have been seeing them all day. We decided to sit out on the balcony to read after lunch and while we were out there our cabin neighbor came out and stuck his head around the corner to tell us there were dolphins. So we got a great dolphin show for the next hour. I managed to get a few pictures but hard to when you don’t know where they are going to show up.

We had dinner at the Chef’s Table which is a set menu with wine pairings but there is only one of the rotations that does not contain meat and it is the California menu which has crab and fish. There was new entertainment on tonight and that is good for us since we knew the laundry room would not be busy so we managed to get laundry done.

Brisbane in the am.
