Sea Day (Day 31)

January 22, 2024

Everyday gets a little warmer as we continue to sail south. Also very humid. The seas have definitely calmed down. Still some rocking and rolling but much calmer. We are almost to Bora Bora and will anchor off shore around 11am tomorrow on Tuesday.

I have been lucky enough to watch all the play-off games for the NFL. Kathy has been able to stream a few from the house and if not I can log into the NFL network 10 minutes after the game is over and watch the reply. If I do it that way I have to be very careful as to whom I am around so I don’t over hear the scores. Once I know the score it is hard to watch even if the team I was rooting for won. Yesterday after lunch we sequestered in the room so I can watch both of the games so I finished that at 7:30 and then we ran up to the buffet and grabbed a quick snack. I was absolutely shocked and pleased that the Chiefs advanced. I was not expecting that.

Our Mah Jongg group ion the morning keeps changing. We have our regulars but then we have some that don’t want to play every sea day so they come and go. We try to make sure that everyone who wants to play can play but sometimes you just want your table of 4 and just play. We play in the Italian restaurant but the negative of that is that there are just 2 round tables in there and if we have more than 2 tables we have to push tables which is almost too big for everyone to reach the tiles.

This was our group from yesterday and we had 3 tables. The most we have had is 4 but sometimes a couple of those tables just have 3 people at them. Today we had a new person come down and you have to wonder where they have been the last 9 sea days but the more the merrier.

This is the view from deck 8 looking down on deck 7 where the pool is with the glass back. Viking was one of the first cruise ships to do that but now there are lots of them on cruise ships.

Kathy finisher her gnome felting project yesterday and it came out really cute. Judy and the other Kathy finished their’s also.

They all had fun making them and just so you know the size, Kathy’s gnome is with our ship card which is about the size of a credit card. Next project will be coming up and they are hoping it will be a sloth. It is amazing to think about how much supplies this art instructor had to bring on board.

Tonight they are doing surf and turf up on the pool deck. We are going to go and will take photos but we figure it is going to be warm. Our favorite bartender, Aaron, will be up there so I am sure he will supply us with lots of cool drinks.

Plan in Bora Bora is for Kathy to go snorkeling with the stingrays and sharks and I am going scuba diving. Hoping for a good picture of a clown fish. Also hoping for a smooth boat ride but I know in Bora Bora they don’t go far out.

Tomorrow Bora Bora
