Cabo San Lucas (Day 15)

January 6th, 2024

So first off I skipped day 14. It was another sea day and not much different than the 3 before them. We did get a bridge tour where they explained to us about the navigational system and how the watch worked. They also let us sit in the captain’s chair and get pictures. It was very informative.

Cabo San Lucas is a tender port and we arrived around 8am and they started tendering people in around 9am. The weather was perfect and even a little cool. Did not need a jacket but definitely long sleeves. One of Viking sister ships was in port and they got in early and were leaving early so that was why we had a late arrival so everyone could get their excursions.

When we were here last world cruise we did the whale watching twice and we always see tons of whales. We also know, from past experience, that you want to be one of the first ones to get to the whale watching boat because they have space up top but only for 6 people and we wanted to be one of those 6 people. We were lucky and we got some prime spots. IN the beginning we could see lots of water spouts but everything was pretty far away and then we got a great show. The guide was very knowledgeable and said that what we were watching was the Mom whale teach the baby how to breach out of the water.

This little boat had a great view. We were a bigger boat and stayed farther away.

We were out whale watching for 2.5 hours and we did not see much until this mom and baby decided to put on a show for us. They served us drinks and Mexican “water” which is also know as Mexican beer. Kathy had several Pacificos while watching the whales.

After whale watching we walked around the port area which is very lively and tons of shops and restaurants. We ventured out into the city and found a mall with a grocery store and made a few little purchases. We walked around until about 4 and then caught the tender back to the boat.

The next 2 days are at sea so not sure if I will post or not. You all get the idea about sea days and what we do. We are headed to LA where we will be on Tuesday the 9th and about 400 people will get off and the rest of the world cruisers will get on.

It is also getting chillier outside as we heard north. Today the high at sea is 65 degrees and when out on the open deck is is quite chilly. In looking ahead it looks like the high in Los Angeles will be 62. We will enjoy the cooler weather while we can.

Next stop Los Angeles January 9th
